ok sooooo, its been a long time since i have posted on my blog. you see, i play the MMO as much as the TCG (actually more
This weekend i flew down to Melbourne for our Blasted Lands champs, and got crushed.
The night before i wanted to change decks from Daspien solo, to Ressa.
Round after round i was crushed by weapon destruction and rush.
My stomach felt like a washing machine, and my brain like a slowly boiled sausage (ew ew ew)
My head was swirling with thoughts of "if only" and "im hungry". My mouth was dry and all i wanted cusrl up into a ball
and cry myself to sleep. Brutally honest, no? We all go through this at some stage, we feel that we wasted alot of money only to lose
every match. But this was so much different.
The meta game is balanced, and it shows in all the lists that have posted 5-0's from the champs around the world.
But that can be a problem.
"in a balanced metagame, there are match ups that run in our favour, and those that run against us"
For me, i ran into every bad match up all day minus the last game.
Grenan burn? loss. Alliance rogue solo? loss. any deck that has enough weapon destruction? loss...
Sounds pretty stupid, right? not really. Chipper being reccured and played over and over is painful to solo.

Out of 23 players, 8 were alliance the rest were horde. I only heard of 1 priest discard, and one priest combo.
Alot of rogue decks, a few Shaman, and a few other decks i cant recall. Scissors beats paper, paper beats rock, rock beats scissors, this is our meta.
Balanced with nothing that can truly dominate.......Depending on the match ups. For me, this was the worst performance at a tournament for a long time, and it hurt.

Now, all my games were very close to me winning, i just got unlucky and would fail to get the final 3 points of damage in for most games. Makes you feel like you want to shut all those cards away in the darkest hole you can find, but we cant stay away.
We move forward and onto the next big tournament.
In short, when you lose your dreams, you lose your soul.
props to UDE EU for upping the support and giving what the US got, props to Chris Foggan and the crew for running a fantastic tournament

Well lookie here! That squishy deck i was running seems to be doing ok in its various forms. Meh time to look at all things wow mmo. Just split a tooth and prolly going to have it out.

ok i bombed out...badly. day one saw 60 people and me playing omedus (i ended on 3-3)...phaladus is a weakness...a hinderance....a nightmare. i knew this was a bad match up, but i didnt think every man and his DOG would be playing it............my mistake.
day 2 saw me in the final pod of 7 ppl....only 4 turned up. the cards were weak, and by the time i realised my drafting horde was the same as 2 other players, it was over and i got a weak number of alliance and horde allies. i did manage to draft rend, heroic strike, slam, 3 daggers, deathdealer breastplate, golem skull helm and stronghold gauntlets. but the near solo horde bulkas was crushed from the get go.
at this stage im sitting 3-3 constructed and 1-2 draft.....it only gets worse from here and having the flu was like tearing out my brain....i didnt need it.....it didnt need me........and thus going into the "rare draft pod" i was screwed. my hopes and dreams were crushed, and i had wasted ALOT of cash to get what i needed in time for nats......
AM I GIVING UP? HELL NO! one defeat after so much effort....im going to win next year.
paul (highlandah) lambert finished 33, me 31, and early "hiro" nguyen finished 20th. the team faced its ultimate loss, but there is always next year.

wow, that came by very fast.......Nationals is bearing down upon me and im very much.......lost.
there are a few decks im working on, but working on a deck wont win me my first NATIONAL.
today im going to talk a little about my choices, and maybe even post a decklist.

ahhh if only i could get by on this saying....if only i could netdeck something and mke it win. alas, this wont work. as many of you know we are the first to play with FoO. this means we can only judge the environment as much as possible and the chaanges we MAY see in the meta.
when it comes down to it, there is a whole new set out there and i have identified an old deck that gets a pretty hefty bump towards tier1 (not that it wasnt tier1 before mind you IMHO)
so screw the deck talk, lets have a look at what im tinkering with.

looks like ferocity fun, yes? my personal fave is the new priest pet SHADOWFIEND, this guy rocks. 2 resources for a 3/1 ferocity not good enough? aim him at your opponents hero and untap 1 resource.......oooooooo :D not to mention that at the end of your turn he bounces back to where he started.
well on that note im going back to bed......being sick 1 week b4 nats is not good. lter if i can i will expand on the deck and the ally choices
