Ozzati Deck evolution and improvement
Posted On 08/23/2007 12:14:56

Lately I wrote a blog about an Ozzati deck I was working on (here). Since then i has changed it a lot and I think it's probably better as the concept is a little different; before it was more of a control type and now it's sort of a rush deck with a slight touch of control.

Here it is:

Hero: Ozzati - Draenei Fire Mage

Maindeck: 60 cards

Abilities (18):

4x Dragon's Breath
4x Fire Blast
4x Arcane Missiles
3x Frostbolt
3x Fizzle

Allies (26):

1x King Magni Bronzebeard
2x Kal'ai the Uplifting
4x Parvink
4x Korthas Greybeard
2x Moira Darkheart
3x "Chipper" Ironbane
4x Jeleane Nightbreeze
3x Apprentice Merry
3x Apprentice Teep

Quests (16):

2x The Missing Diplomat
4x The Defias Brotherhood
3x One Draenei's Junk
4x Rescue the Survivors!
3x Finkle Einhorn, At Your Service!

Sideboard: 10 cards

3x Frost Nova
1x Moira Darkheart
2x Counterspell
4x Vanquish

Any feedback and comment would be appreciated! I may play this deck for Nationals which is pretty soon but I'm not sure and I know that if I use it I won't win much

FoO Ozzati Fire Mage Deck
Posted On 08/14/2007 14:36:04

There are many great cards that are coming out in Fires of Outland, so I wanted to show you guys a WoW deck I'm working on right now:

Hero: Ozzati - Draenei Fire Mage

Maindeck: 60 cards Type: Control

Allies (8):

4x Parvink
4x Warden Ravella/Korthas Greybeard

Abilities (34):

4x Dragon's Breath
4x Fireball
4x Fire Blast
3x Scorch
4x Arcane Missiles
4x Frostbolt
2x Counterspell
3x Fizzle
4x Blink
2x Polymorph

Armor (3):

3x Whitemane's Chapeau

Quests (15):

4x Crown of the Earth
4x Zapped Giants
4x Totem of Coo
3x Timbermaw Ally

Sideboard: 10 cards

3x Frost Nova
2x Spellsteal
3x Vanquish
2x Shattering Blow

With the very powerful Dragon's Breath, there is also a card here that I take in consideration: Fizzle, for it's good usability, as most of the played abilities nowadays are cheap (3 or less) so I like this card for it's adaptability, and I think it'll find a room in most mage decks.

Please discuss!

My Teferi Deck (U/B/w)
Posted On 08/13/2007 06:37:02

Alright, so this is my U/B/w Control
Deck
:

Name: Powerseeking

Type: Control

Metagame: Teferi Teachings

Maindeck: 60 cards

Creatures (8):

1 Dralnu, Lich Lord
3 Teferi, Mage of Zhalfir

1 Aeon Chronicler
1 Skeletal Vampire
2 Windborn Muse

Other Spells (28):

3 Mystical Teachings
3 Think Twice
1 Snapback
4 Remand
3 Cancel
3 Delay
1 Remove Soul
2 Spell Snare
4 Tendrils of Corruption
1 Sudden Death
3 Damnation

Lands (24):

3 Urborg, Tomb of Yawgmoth
4 Underground River
1 Caves of Koilos
2 Adarkar Wastes
2 Dreadship Reef
1 Calciform Pools
3 Desert
7 Island
1 Swamp

Sideboard: 15 cards

1 Remove Soul
2 Condemn
1 Grim Harvest
2 Extirpate
1 Deathmark
3 Flash Freeze
1 Commandeer
4 Bottle Gnomes

I splashed white so that I could add the amazing Windborn Muse into the deck, for it's power to stop aggro effectively.

Some card choices having to be explained:

Dralnu, Lich Lord: Many people don't believe in that card anymore but I think it can still be useful in a deck like that. I don't know if SB is a better option, but Dralnu always saves my life bringing back a Damnation, a counterspell or even a Tendrils of Corruption.

Snapback: The card choice is obvious. It costlessly (or paying 1U, if you can afford it) brings back any creature (yours or the opponent's ) to hand!...it can lower card advantage though, so left in single.

Condemn: Another reason to splash white. It, too, is an effective creature stopper for a low cost, but put it in SB because it's not adapted to every situations.

Delay: Sometimes better than Remand as it leaves three whole turns until the countered card finally resolves, and a creature never comes back if you have Teferi in play.

Aeon Chronicler: WIN CONDITION. Gives you card advantage and then usually arrives on the battlefield as at least a 5/5.

I also thought about puting Arcanis the Omnipotent. This card, new in standard, can give you ridicullous card advantage and can bounce itself back, just in case. Together with Aeon Chronicler on the field, it's godly. A little too expensive though so didn't put it in my deck yet as I'll playtest it later.

Please leave comments on anything you might want to say, as I've been trying to improve this deck the past days.

*EDIT* Took out 1 Aeon Chronicler for 1 Remove Soul in maindeck, and changed SB a little
