defeating the dragon part 3
Posted On 03/24/2008 16:35:21 by tdawg84

Well after my last article i'd like to apologize.  See after much more indepth playtesting I realized the decks that I recommended didn't fair well against the DAD return deck.  The only one that did was the bazoo deck but that follows almost the exact same strategy and I am here to promote diversity in this game which is tough when one deck is so broken.  i do still stand behind the volcanic gadget and oppression burndecks as they do matchup well with dark decks however they do not work well against samurai decks which are tending to be the "answer" to DaD return.  Let me tell you that Samurais arent consistent enough to compete with the Dark deck for the masses in my opinion (sorry johnathan moore).  This was really hurting my internal want for the underdog to win and thats when it really hit me.  If you want to defeat them on a constant basis, you have to be very aggressive and also be able to stop game-changing moves.  You have to be more chaotic than what people are deeming the new chaos deck

It really made me wonder though what deck can handle something so volatile and can keep regenerating and being a constant presence.  The idea i came up with and will show you is with gadgets, i mean once they are summoned you get another right, but this is not the average oppression gadget deck as it doesnt even run oppressions as it doesnt work against samurais very well or other gadget decks.  No this deck would need so much mass  destruction so that it would make it hard for the dark player to manage

Gadget Chaos

2 Cyber dragon
2 dark dust spirit

2 red gadget
2 green gadget
2 yellow gadget
1 sangan
1 treeborn frog
1 elemental hero stratos
2 fear monger
1 disc commander

3 lightning vortex
2 foolish burial
1 premature
1 monster reborn
3 creature swap
1 heavy storm
1 mystical space typhoon
2 enemy controller
2 reinforcement of the army

2 bottomless traphole
3 solemn judgment
1 torrential tribute
2 dust tornado

Side deck
3 needle ceiling
1 limiter removal

3 sakuretsu armor

3 kinetic soldier
3 dd crow
2 dark bribe

As you can see the deck simply focuses on destruction.  The thing i love most is the inclusion of dark dust spirit because it destroys everything but then leaves the scene.  It reminds me of my old sacred phoenix deck with the loop of destruction, however we need something much faster this format and the fact is that todays magics and traps are mainly offensive so you can get some damage in.  I included the dhero circle for some more consistency and deck thinning as well as for more uses of creature swap which i find as really good with gadgets.  This deck definitely accomplishes the purpose of maintaining your hand while making the field chaotic so that the average dark player cannot manage their g-yard well. It also runs solemns to stop the big return from happening while also running a pair of dust to prevent it earlier.   The side deck mainly is just other forms of destruction(needle ceiling is broken this format) and negation.  The principles of the philosophy behind this deck are very simple destroy and its a fairly cheap deck to construct. Try it out at your next local.

and attack on.  Try it youll like it
