Today I'd like to add on to a topic that Jon Swearingen touched on in his article "Thoughts of a Ginger" and explore one thing that he mentioned in his piece even further. His message was to try to explain why good players continue to succeed. Yes, they have the skills and the preparation, but so do many other players. Assuming you are equally good and equally prepared, what does Olivier Ruel have that you don't? Intimidation. Do not underestimate the intimidation factor. It is... Read More
In a recent blog I wrote, TCGplayer user concede2me commented that we should revisit the discussion on Bitterblossom. Perhaps mostly he was chiding me for being "pretty bad at magic (in almost every way)," but regardless I think it's work talking about again. Whenever I play in a Legacy tournament against Stax, I hope beyond hope that thier turn 2 play is Smokestack (thanks to Ancient Tomb, City of Traitors and friends, for those of you who don't play a lot of the older formats). Why? Because it doesn't DO anything. Let's say you cast Smokestack. What happens the turn Smokestack comes into play? Nothing. How about during your oppon... Read More
EDIT: looks like I'm an idiot and this deck don't work. I should read the cards more carefully.
