I’d like for everyone here to take a quick second to mourn the death of my psyche. As many of you have probably noticed, the Regionals Blog Contest is over. It only makes mewonder if anyone else has appreciated the irony behind RBC as much as I have. Of course, it was mostly my fault it was so ironic. Let mere count a short story to you: I head to my favorite Magic: the Gathering website and notice that they are holding a writing contest. I think to myself, “Great! I’m a decent... Read More
I saw this decklist over at another Magic strategy site. It looks pretty good especially the Platinum Angel. Many decks will have a hard time destroying it. You have counters to protect it and Academy Ruins to replay it. And Plumeveil surprises most people. It's cheap and can block most of the creatures in the format. Mono Blue Plumeveil Control 3 Platinum Angel 4 Plumeveil 2 Teferi, Mage Of Zhalfir 2 Venser, Shaper Savant 4 Mind Stone 4 Cryptic Co... Read More
Now that Pro Tour Hollywood is over, many players will be scouring magicthegathering.com for the decklists of the pros. I took out 4 Ancestral Visions for 3 maindeck Thoughtseize and something else I can't remember, just to give it a try after looking at some lists. Do not do what I did! My deck actually hated me when I did this, losing my first 3 rounds and winning the last 2 to recover some rating points. Just. Don't. Do. It.&n... Read More
Alright, since everyone with a deck in standard is either playing Fairies or worrying about the dominance that is Fairies, or they live under a rock. Pro Tour Hollywood is this weekend and, though I won’t be going, Fairies will be, en masse. I will predict that either Fairies or a deck running 3-4 Cloudthreshers between the main deck and sideboard will win. Not as bold a claim as it would appear, since Fairies was a house at the Star City 5k and 2k Opens and Cloudthresher is the best card agai... Read More
