I'm not really sure why I play Magic. I'm definitely not sure why I want to play competitive Magic. And I really have no effing clue why I kid myself with deckbuilding and metagaming when I don't even leave this God Forsaken desert until after the release of one more set. Although I have been familiar with how the game works for about 10 years I have only dedicated about a years worth of 3-4 month stints where I have actually played, built decks, and researched the game. It's a week before the big trip down to Ohio for realm championships, and my group is playtesting for the tournament. There are times when it is clear what you should be drafting and how to build your deck. This is not one of those times. I am not convinced I built it correctly. Introduction It’s that time of year again, a new PTQ season coming in a little over a month with a new, untried format waiting to be delved for powerful combos, decks and archetypes. While I may not find Lorwyn/Morningtide limited very good (linear mechanics are NOT something which makes my drafting experience more enjoyable), nor do I predict Shadowmoor will be any improvement (Barely any removal in a heavy creature set? If creature stalls are your thing, this is the set to play!). While t... Read More
