I NEED HELP!!!!!
Posted On 07/12/2008 00:37:26 by DrPepper237 - Read 123 time(s)

Hey there,

I am in DESPERATE need of some help on improving my deck. You see, i lost my old deck (i have been out of the yu-gi-oh loop for quite a while because i moved and don't have any friends who are into tcg's and so i misplaced my deck) and i have built a new one. Now... as far as i can tell, it can hold its own... but that's just me drawing by myself seeing how often cards i need/can play pop up.

There are 45 cards in my deck (a big no no, i know that) and i am missing a few MUST HAVE staple cards because, well they were in my old deck, which i lost. I have no definite theme for my deck. All of these things are bad, i know... I am really just looking for some good advice on improving/building this new deck.

I dont know where to begin. This deck has very little synergy, numerous competing themes (some of which require large amounts of support), and a lot of high-cost, low-utility cards. I will do what I can though, but a quick glance at your deck informs me you are on a budget.  It is my suggestion that you begin by updating your card collection however, as it is impossible to make a tournament-worthy deck with such a random collection of cards (sorry). At your local card store, there are many tournament-worthy commons that you can pick up for 25c a piece, as well as many players who would just give you a bunch of commons if you asked (I myself have an entire packing box full of duplicate commons I neither want or need just to give you an example of how easy it would be to get commons off some people). In addition, while I personally hate netdecking, there are numerous tournament-worthy budget decks you can netdeck for as little as $20 –Gadgets, Water Beatdown, Light Beatdown, Big City, and Batterymen are just a couple examples. With that being said, I have just spent the last ½ hour looking over your deck list, and regardless of which direction I take your deck, I was forced to cut over 20 cards, making it unrecognizable from your original design. Since you already have 1 copy of “A Legendary Ocean”, my suggestion would be for you to try and create a playable water beatdown deck – here is a good example on a budget.

Spells

3 A Legendary Ocean1 Heavy Storm1 Mystical Space Typhoon1 Level Limit – Area B1 United We Stand (you already have it)1 Brain Control1 Monster Reborn1 Premature Burial1 Field Barrier2 Rush Recklessly2 Enemy Controller

Traps

1 Gravity Bind1 Torrential Tribute2 Bottomless Trap Hole2 Sakuretsu Armor  Warrior Of Atlantis and Frostosaurus are Rare, United We Stand is Ultra (but you already have it). Everything else in this deck is common, so you shouldn’t have any difficulty acquiring them.

Ok check the Trap Hole lol (my bad) keep that maybe you should find Bottomless Trap Hole and put in a couple of those because it works so much better than Trap Hole.

I used to want to play Trap Hole and Magic Jammer until I read the cards closely and they do not work like I thought they did. Maybe you should take out those three cards. I havent played that long so I will have to look up the cards and see what they do before I respond further good luck man, I know deck building can be hard. Sorry to see/hear that you lost your deck that really bites

I looked up the two cards "Black Luster Soldier" and "Black Luster Soldier - Envoy of the Beginning" and they are two separate cards and the forbidden list at the official yugioh website says the "Black Luster Soldier - Envoy of the Beginning" is forbidden. Just a nice convenient loop hole lol.

07/12/2008 14:49:02
Well, like I said, I dont know much about Deck Building... but I am fairly sure Envoy of the Beginning is a booster pack set... I am probibly wrong, but that is what I think

07/12/2008 13:27:21
The forbidden list says "Black Luster Soldier - Envoy of the Beginning" isn't that a different card from "Black Luster Soldier?

Well, I do not know much about Deck Building, but I do know a little bit. I can tell you right now 2 things.

1st. Black Luster Soldier, Pot of Greed, and Raigeki are illeagle to use in Tournaments.

2nd. You will get a lot more help if you put them in order. Monsters-Traps-Spells
