This is the first installment of my series looking at some of the new cards from LODT and how they can be used in some gamebreaking decks.
Limit Reverse is pretty innocuous at first glance:
However, potential synergies are obvious. This card did recieve a preivew on Metagame, so I won't go into huge detail, but Sangan and Card Trooper are effective pulls, and the main reason for its brokenness and probable future limitation is Destiny Hero - Disk Commander. One of the more potent cards in the Destiny arsenal, the Commander can be Reversed in the End Phase, then changed to defense mode and destroyed only to be recurred again.
This set me thinking. A deck focused around the Limit Commander concept would have a lot of card advantage, and plenty of consistency, but no win condition. It would even have the power to clear an opposing field with ease and versatility via Snipe Hunter but open fields are useless without a swarm of monsters to take advantage.
So I thought, and I had an idea. Dark World. The usual inconsistencies are ironed out by superb draw power and the easy swarm is also compatible with Card of Safe Return. My decklist is below:
Monsters: 17
1 Dark Magician of Chaos
3 Goldd, Wu-Lord of Dark World
3 Sillva, Warlord of Dark World
2 Destiny Hero - Dasher
1 Elemental Hero Stratos
1 Armageddon Knight
1 Destiny Hero - Fear Monger
2 Destiny Hero - Malicious
1 Morphing Jar
1 Card Trooper
1 Destiny Hero - Disk Commander
Spells: 17
3 Card of Safe Return
3 Dark World Dealings
2 Dark World Lightning
2 Destiny Draw
2 Reinforcement of the Army
1 Card Destruction
1 Monster Reborn
1 Premature Burial
1 Brain Control
1 Heavy Storm
Traps: 6
3 Limit Reverse
1 Mirror Force
1 Torrential Tribute
1 Crush Card Virus
Stratos, Snipe and Dark World Lightning can wreck opposing fields and allow the dropping of multiple beatsticks. In the worst case scenario, Reversed Commanders can be tributed for otherwise dead Dark World monsters. Dark Magician of Chaos also makes an appearance to take advantage of all the fodder and often it allows a Dark World to hit the field through the retrieval of Dealings or Lightning.
Should I struggle with dead draws early on, Fear Monger can allow me to recover with cards and tribute fodder without a dead back row attached.
Card of Safe Return is so broken in here. Not only can it add amazing speed along with synergy with the two aspects of the deck, setting a card and activating COSR can lead to some interesting bluffs (if your opponent thinks your set card is a reverse, they won't want to give you two free cards by wasting a piece of s/t destruction on it. Cue overextension into Mirror Force.)
Destiny Draw is only at two because with only six Destinies in the deck, one of which will be the second Malicious I search, and added to the fact that I generally won't wait for one - if I can use Armageddon or a Dark World spell to get any of the Heroes (beside Monger) into the 'yard, I will as soon as I can.
Crush Card Virus is a no-brainer - not only is it a potent use for a recurred Commander, it can get him into the grave in the first place if I draw him without Dealings, Lightning or D-Draw in hand. It also tears apart Lightsworn.
Overall, the deck has the speed and draw power to compete with all LODT and DAD can put out, while giving as good as it gets. It's immensely fun to play, and competitive too, so if you're stuck for ideas or looking for a new concept, why not give this a try?
