When you think cheap, You must think ineffective.
When you think Bling , You think costly.
No this isnt another random Dark Armed Dragon review!
Well as the title suggests having Inexpensive Bling is acually quite effective.
I mean most people can't tell the difference between fake Jewelery and the real thing.
If you apply what I've just said to Yugioh then there can only be one result.
Inexpensive=commons and rares
Bling = Crystal beasts
Yes thats right im talking about the ferals who never wanna hit the graveyard.
The one and only set of pimped out monsers: Crystal Beasts!
Crystal beasts are extremely hard to kill and with all that negating power i really found it difficult to pull off combos when faced against it.
"I'll attack your facedown with my Malicious Edge!"
"looks like i hit your Ruby Carbuncle.. heh you take 2300 damage"
I set a card and end.
"ABUNDANCE!
My field is wiped and my opponent brings out triple Sapphire Pegasus and attacks me for game dispite how much effort i put into taking him down.
For me this is actually a daily occurence. No matter how tuned your deck maybe. You will eventually fall to Crystal Beast's power play card: Crystal Abundance.
If that doesnt get ya then the consistency of the deck will. First we have Crystal beasts Version of Elemental Hero Stratos: Crystal Beast Sapphire Pegasus
this amazing steed can bring out ANY Crystal Beast monster to your spell and trap zone.Plus u can have triples! If you've never played with a CB deck then your Probably thinking to yourself "Wait it doesn't bring it to my hand?" no this is because Crystal Beast monsters operate best as Continuous Spell cards.
Lets look at the Deck shall we?
Main Deck:
3x Crystal Beast Shapphire Pegasus
3x Crystal Beast Topaz Tiger
3x Crystal Beast Amber Mammoth
1x Crystal Beast Colbalt Eagle
2x Crystal Beast Ruby Carbuncle
2x Crystal Beast Amethyst Cat
2x Crystal Beast Emerald Tortoise
1x Rainbow Dragon
1x Hamon, Lord of Striking Thunder
3x Ancient City - Rainbow Ruins
2x Crystal Blessing
3x Crystal Beacon
3x Crystal Abundance
3x Crystal Promise
2x Rare Value
2x Crystal Release
2x Crystal Raigeki
2x Sakurestsu Amour
1x Mirror Force
Crystal Beasts have come along way since their inital release in Force of the Breaker which gave us the best monarch (in my mind) to date. I can still remember when i actually had the capacity to beat my friend's CB deck when it only had 1 Sapphire Pegasus.
The main Problem in a Crystal beast deck was the lack of raw power. In the beginning the best thing they could pull out was a 2000 atk Topaz Tiger, or a 2400 attack Gravi-Crush or Magna-slash dragon if u were following that theme. Fast forward to the release of Duelist Pack Jesse Anderson and finally the problem is solved!
When i first saw Crystal Release i confused it with a Scapegoat card ...
but this is no Sheep Token. This equip card speeds up the deck and adds muscle to it as a nice bonus
Card Text:
Equip Only to a Crystal Beast Monster. It gains 800 ATK. When this card is sent from the field to the Graveyard, You can place 1 Crystal Beast monster from your Deck, in the Spell & Trap zone Face-up, as a Continuous Spell Card.
Sound Familiar? Of course it does! thats Crystal Beast Sapphire Pegasus's effect.
Before this card came out, Crystal beasts had a hard time getting past even a cyber dragon. now with this big boost to the deck it can go toe to toe with DMC!
Crystal beasts have their own form of D-Draw: Rare Value, this card requires a Crystalised Beast to be sent to the grave in order to draw 2 cards... hang on you mean you don't need to discard a card from your hand and acually gain hand advantage? NOWAY!
if that draw power isnt enough for you then ive got something much, much better.
The field card - Ancient City - Rainbow Ruins
Not only is this card almost Undestroyable, it also halfs the battle damage you take, Negates any spells or traps, Draws an extra card per turn, AND Special summons a Crystalised Beast back into the game? OMGWTF!
Drawing not your Piece of cake?
Why not OTK them?
Crystal Abundance
Send 4 Crystalised Beasts from your spell and trap zone to the graveyard to wipe the field. Then special summon as many Crystal beast monsters from your grave to your field = to the number of cards you wiped off your opponents table. neat card!
Usually this should bring back 3 Sapphire Pegasus's which bring back 3 crystalised beasts. Tribute the three Crystals for Hamon and watch your opponent stare in awe.
Why isnt this deck top tier?
It's because very few people play with it, Thats why.
The deck is consistant enough, It's Strong enough, and It's OTK potential is easily brought out. Oh and if your wondering, my friend Got into nationals pretty easily with this deck ... Cheap one card OTKs FTW!
He got a rainbow dragon mat to brag about too.
It's cheap to make, Fun to play, and its really good!
So come on! give it a try
i Promise you'll like it!
Untill next time
