What? Yu-Gi-Oh! goes against all logic? In some cases yes. These cases can and need to be abused to produce winning results.
Origins
The innitial conept is from Morphing Jar. If you have forgotten what this card is:
Flip:Both Players discard all cards in their hands. Then both players draw 5 cards.
Morphing Jar gives birth to the concept to putting less into a move and getting more out of your move. You play morphing with three cards in hand. He is flipped and you get 5 cards, a +2 over your innitial move.
Now
Now we have a large number of cards like this. Allure of Darkness, Trade-in, ect. Abuse of these such cards win games. Without support of cards like Pot of Greed or the threat of Removal From the Game thwarting Pot of Avarice players need to use the concept of 1+1=A number of 3 or more. These Combo's are crutial in Today's Metagame.
The Risk Behind the reward of 1+1
Some cards force you to risk the loss of cards that usually will ocst you the game. One such example is Allure of Darkness.

Allure may cost you an entire hand. Before you go out and stuff your deck to the max with cards that can give you an additional card remember the risk involved. In some cases it can benefit a deck. In some it can cost you the game.
