It was not meant to be insulting. Though I have posted a comment about it in that particular blog, I feel I should expand a little more on what I said. I basically said that in order to understand how to play Magic, you have to be a geek virgin nerd (not a loser as the guy who commented stated, I never mentioned loser at all, not until he said it), in other words, smart. I understand that that was insulting (not when I first wrote it, but after third_place's comment to me I realized it) and was not meant to be.
All stereotypes exist (as I said in my reply) for everyone. Black stereotypes of pimps, drug dealers and thiefs exist, but that is not to say all blacks are the stereotype. Lots of whites and other races can fall into the same group. Mexican stereotypes of laziness exists, but as we all know, most Mexicans work very hard for very little pay, that is in no way lazy! Though I am part Mexican myself and I DO fall in the lazy stereotype. And of course the geek nerd virgin playing D&D, Magic and computer games exist as well. But (other than Magic) I play all that stuff too, I am not a virgin, and not a geek or nerd simply because I am not smart, I barely made thru high school, as a matter of fact, I flunked my senior year and had to repeat it. So being called a geek or nerd is not really insulting as it implies being very smart, but because of movies that portray them as the pimply faced virgins (again they do exist outside of movies) the majority of folks are going to assume that to be a fact about them.
The tv show Big Bang Theory is really funny! I love it. It portrays geeks or nerds in a better light than most shows or movies do. At least I think so. But the point is I did not mean for my first blog statement (or me using the words geek and nerd) to be construed as that is how I see all Magic players, that is only some of them. Like my reply to my last blog said, there probably is a lot more Magic players that have kids are married and get laid more often than I do. I don't see nothing wrong with being smart, but my using those words I guess were insulting and not meant to be. I don't consider any one here (regardless if you fit the stereotype or not) to be geeks and nerds. Again sorry for using those words, but I couldn't think of a better way to make my point. It was never my intention to insult and I hope this blog is not insulting either, if it is I am sorry once more. It is not meant to be.
