And Then There was Ridiculous!

April 5th’s RCQ in Portland marks the end of the MotL era. An era in which I consistently placing lower in Regionals and RCQs than ever before. Whether Death was being Brought, Shadows were being Weaved, or Yanna was showing me her Wild Gift, it seemed like I couldn’t quite grasp the meta until I was underneath with a pile of losses. My best finish was with a Telrander Illidari Combo deck in Portland and that was largely due to people’s inexperience against Cobrascale Hood. So on the eve of the end of this block, I have decided that I must run the most janky build ever devised. It must have a chance at winning otherwise I am just donating money to UDE. But it can’t have any Meta presence. I have already qualified so I just need to have some awesome turns. So I will be reporting ridiculous decks all week and the one with the most positive feedback and testing.

Explanation Time. So this deck looks awful at first glance. Most glaring is no top end allies and no real easy way to kill 3 health early drops. Porto wanted to make a showing but he is too weak for this setup. Things I love about this deck is all the protectors and all the draw the deck has. I like to think of it as the ultimate limited deck as it just keeps putting allies out. So the plan is to get totemic focus plus an ally producing totem + aurastone hammer. This becomes silly fun and then finish with heroic Presence.  The lock also works similar to the old ACG lock but it is disruptable. Terror Pit Girdle is a house and instant allies make it hilarious. The deck has lots of draw and can empty its hand fast. It just so shocking how many allies get on the board after board wipe 2 + 3. So basically weenie rush, right? This is not a competitive deck, I won't make any arguments about that. But it might be a deck I can sneak in and out of Portland with and pull out enough W's to claim yet another playmat.
