So this deck idea came about on two fronts.
First, I have been playing with two different types of big mana decks recently in local events. The first, a RGb big mana deck that is basically the deck that Chris Woltereck has play to success in, well... every standard tournament he's entered with it. The second is a bit of an experimental WGu thing my friend has been working on. It still runs Wall of Roots and Into the North to accelerate, but instead of Siege-Gang Commander or Bogardan Hellkite at the top of the curve it runs the white Akroma and Aeon Chronicler (though both run Cloudthresher). Another spicy bit of technology in the deck is running Weatherseed Totem over the dubs Search for Tomorrow. It's a ton of fun.
The second came about during a game of standard mental Magic I was watching. One player had just played a turn 5 Siege-Gang Commander and his opponent, after untapping, decided to Shock the Commander and playHarmonize, ltapping out and eaving just 3 1/1 tokens and at a stable 16 life.
The player with the tokens untaps and draws his card. Now, the 2 cards in his hand were casting cost 2R and R. How can he deal 16 damage this turn?
I told him: Raging Goblin and... Shared Animosity.
I imagined a deck that accelerates into either Siege-Gang or Marsh Flitter followed up by a Shared Animosity to deal absurd amounts of damage. So I build one.
Animaniacs
4 Marsh Flitter
4 Siege-Gang Commander
4 Bitterblossom
4 Coldsteel Heart
4 Mind Stone
3 Shared Animosity
4 Incinerate
4 Skred
2 Makeshift Mannequin
2 Void
2 Sudden Spoiling
7 Snow-Covered Mountain
5 Snow-Covered Swamp
4 Tresserhorn Sinks
3 Mouth of Ronom
2 Scrying Sheets
1 Sulfurous Springs
1 Urborg, Tomb of Yawgmoth
Remember, rough draft. Let me know what you think.
