Well, at first look it doesn’t seem bad. Like It’s Clobberin’ Time it gives a +3/+3 bonus to an attacker. Sounds good so far. First, it’s from DLS, so it can’t be good (that’s a joke, don’t flame please). Anyway, it’s good bonus is only given to an attacker while it is attacking a character with a lesser cost. Oh yeah, that makes it suck. It’s not “while attacking this turn” either, it’s just for “this attack”. I’ve seen this card used a total of once. My opponent was playing a Future Foes deck and had already maxed out every other ATK pump possible (Savage Beatdown, Flying Kick, Big Leagues, Crackshot, Blinding Rage, Combat Reflexes). Even then, it’s use sucked. Well, let’s split it into components. +3 ATK for an attacker while going down-curve. That sucks, big time. Usually, ATK pumps are used to induce stuns while attacking up-curve. The +3 ATK it gives is terrible, you should try a card like Flying Kick instead. The +3 DEF pump for an attacker while going down-curve also sucks. Either your characters have really low-DEF, or you are anticipating your opponent to have a character with high ATK that will defend. Or, at last, you can be expecting your opponent to lay out a Nasty Surprise, which your Contact! should be able to avoid, at the very least. The bottom line to use this card is:

  • You have already used every other ATK pump (never happens, ever)
  • You know your characters have low-DEF, so you try and avoid their stuns while attacking (Only real situation is the Morlock-Smash deck, which uses cards like Feral. However, they have the use of cards like Special Delivery instead. Also, why would you use the high ATK given to cards like Feral to attack a character with lesser cost? You should be able to go for up-curve attacks)
  • You anticipate your opponents are going to play a card like Nasty Surprise (May I suggest Burns At the Touch instead, it even works up-curve and across curve).
  •

This card is one of the lowest. It really sucks that players that are new to the game will see it as “good” (because of it’s high numbers). Somebody needs to spread the word: Contact! doesn’t work.
