Welcome to Chilliwack Chat, my little personal gaming blog, where I'll discuss the two main TCGs I play, Legend of the Five Rings and WoW.
I've been a TCG player since '95, when I started playing Magic. From there, I was introduced to L5R, which became a big part of my life. My 2 year old's middle name is a character from L5R (Shahai), and I have playtested for the game for at least 3 years now. I recently started playing the WoW TCG because, like many, I have lots of friends that play the online game, and while I don't play it, the gameplay was good, so I gave in and joined them. I've played many other games in the past, including Raw Deal, Full Metal Alchemist, Magi-Nation, 7th Sea, Doomtown, Netrunner, Battletech, Warlord, LBS, On The Edge, and Game Of Thrones. Money, the cancellation of the game, and/or lack of solid playgroups led to stopping most of them to focus on two games (eg. I stopped Raw Deal when WoW took off in my area and it died out).
Sadly, other than events in the Pacific Northwest, I've never been to a big con, so my "big event" experience is limited. I've won my share of smaller events, and as someone who likes to play the underdog decks, I've done pretty well with what I've had to work with (regularly playing tier 3 factions in L5R is not a good way to post big results, and yet, I've never been worse than .500 at a Kotei Regional event). Even in WoW, Rogue is my favorite class, which isn't exactly a top tier class, so my work continues to be cut out for me.
Anyhow, that's enough about me. If there's something about the games I play (or used to play) that you'd like to see discussed, feel free to message me.
