Future Foes, indepth look

As my golden age legal deck (avengers reservist) is pretty much top notch (yeah ive only made a few changes so its BYOS legal :P) ive had to get togeter a silver age legal deck ready for the tourney in london on saturday 16th

 

haveing done a booster draft with legion of super heroes, and doing quite well with future foes, i had decided to make a proper contstructed deck to use them to theyre full potential, however things havent quite turned out the way i thought

 

when i first contructed the deck, i was mainly using the cards that recover the character tha was stunned by it (examples of this would be emeraled empress, tharok, etc). Though this can be worked to the advantage of picking on the one drop that would be around till late turns, this however gave me bad board advantage, and im big on this like that. So i decided to work on the other side of future foes which is theyre card discard powers they have. forcing your opponant to discard i think is quite a cool effect, so this led me to my current deck list (of a little over 60 cards :P)

Right, so this deck is ment to mess with your opponants hand, and get cool effects for them not having cards, which gives them less choices and makes the gae easier for me (well in practice at least). so heres a turn by turn breakdown of what i should be doing in this deck!

 

Now is alls going well i should be on odds, as thats my prefferd choice however im sure this deck would still be as strong, just not so mch on turn 7, if we get there. though there isnt really a muligan condition for this deck, i just try to aim for the first threeish drops and a location, or ongoing.

Turn 1 

on the first turn, my preferd recruit is blight, as i can hopefully start going through the players deck, get a rough idea what game plan he/she has and take away a key card. however ras isnt a bad drop, and hes handy to have about so i can return him to my hand to get the super cool effect!

 

Turn 2

depending on what i recruited on turn 1, depends on what i was want to recruit, if everythings going to plan i can bring out saturn queen, tho if i didnt recruit or have ras out ill bring out tarik, as hes an uber card. this is when i start using plot twists to rid my opponant of cards. most like chain lightning/tempus  as this helps me avoid or make sure i stun back

 

Turn 3

on turn three my preferd recruit of Time Trapper which is just an awesome card (imo) makes the opponant more wary of playing that moblize/enemy of my enemy and other search cards. however dominators is also a strong card, tho if i have saturn queen out on the field, hes not to important in the game plan. if everything gone acording to my plan, y opponant should have less crds than me, llowing use of warship (the added flight is great) so i should be able to at least make one charcter not ready for the next turn :)

 

Turn 4

i normally like bring out a lightning lord on this turn, as a possible 9/9 is great for that early in the game. Tho glorith is a great secondry choice epesially if ive missed a couple of drops or i took a big hit in an earlier round. tho id much rather have lighting lord about for turn 5 as its where it ges interesting

 

Turn 5

on this turn, ive got three choices for what to do, depending on how the game is going. opefully before now ive hit my search card (fatal five hundred) and i can get the one that fits best. against sarm i normally go with Ras as he stops a pesky renforcer, or gets me a free card discard. Atrophos however is my favourite as as long as hes gots breakthrough i can check my opponents hand and deck and remove all copies of a card, which will give me one up, as i can have a go at what he/she will do next. Computo is for when i have hit the future is changing cards, or im having trouble keeping my hand filled

 

Turn 6

This is when my fave card Mordru should come into play, depending on my helth i normally pay the 7 endurance to make sure the opponent doesnt have a drop for next turn, or get ri of a pesky plot twist which would foil my plans! also at 13/12 hes a pretty good drop!

 

Turn 7

if the game lst this long (which it seems to tbh) i have my uber universo to bring out, and i should have odds, and his skill can bring about two stuns, and breakthrough, and not including the other characters on the board. basicly run him into a low cost to stun the high cost next to it, mwhahhaa!

 

For the remaining cards that i havent talked about, the plot twist, nearly all of them give me an advantage (ie defence boost, or attack pump) and an even better one, unless my opponant discards a card. so they are win win noramlly. Legion of the damned is one of my better cards, as not only gives me flight, but up to -2 defence loss on defenders, which can help me get my breakthough, so i can get all the awesome effects. he sun eater on later turns is also great, as my opponant shouldnt have that many cards in hand and i should be able to get rid of them, so they wouldnt be able to play plot twists

 

Wells thats my rambling on future foes,  i dont think its that a popular deck choice and im sure they can work much better teamed up with somthing, but thats what ive dne!
