I love anything strategy which I discovered my first year of college thanks to Command & Conquer. Board games and Magic are tops, but fantasy baseball use a lot of the same skills. Go Twins! I also grew up sailing on Lake Red Rock and thrashing the fine powder at Montezuma (300 foot elevation- rock on!).

Anything about war History - We Were Soldiers, Thin Red Line. Anything SciFi or Fantasy - Lord of the Rings, Dark Crystal, Starship Troopers (because it's Heinlein...oh and Denise Richards). Braveheart, Last of the Mohicans, Druids. And the classics of my era - Goonies, Magnolia, Office Space (that's my stapler...)

Classic Folk Rock and storytellers are my favorite - Cat Stephens, Bob Dylan, CCR, Croce...
But I will listen to anything except Blu's gangster rap, although I grew up driving down the street in my 6 4.

I read Tolkein's trilogy (plus the Hobbit) before the movies. C.S. Lewis is as good at theology as he is with the Chronicles of Narnia. I'll read anything about history, philosophy, culture, war, or religion. Right now it is Peer Gynt (any Norwegians out there?) which magic should totally steal card ideas from.

Hello all, my name is Kurt Hoover. I'm actually a pastor but 'priest' is the only option. I do enjoy being called the Right Reverend though. That is what I put on my DCI card. We'll see if they follow through once I get enough points to get promos and my first real card. Lutheran would be the other in Christian. I am a Pella High school, Luther College and Luther Seminary Grad. I started playing magic again a year ago with the guys from Cedar Falls. This has been a fun year playing my first prerelease (Planar Chaos) and my first PTQ (Madison - Block). If you haven’t taken the leap from casual to competitive I recommend it. If you want to know anything about playing in and around Cedar Falls or getting more competitive just ask. I will try to blog about the transition to competitive play as that is what I am learning right now. There are plenty of experts on TCGplayer for you to consult.

Ok the prerelease was a lot of fun.  But, as I expected my thoughts on the commons and uncommons were way off.  But, I did spend a lot of time at the head tables all but 1 of my 4 flights.  I will let you know what I saw.
